Events

The Acton Library provides educational programs for all ages. Our events are free and open to the public. Some programs have age recommendations. Please look at the event calendar to see if you need to register for a seat.

  • Wed, May 8, 2024 -- Mexican Train at 1:30 PM

    We will be playing Mexican Train, a game played with dominoes. The object of the game is for a player to play all the tiles from his or her hand onto one or more chains, or trains, emanating from a central hub or "station". Free and open to all. Registration is suggested as seating is limited and is available one month prior to the event. Location: Grady Room

  • Wed, May 8, 2024 -- Acton Compassion-Knits at 4:00 PM

    This group, led by Acton Public Library staff members, will knit and/or crochet items to be donated to a cause.  Needles, yarn & patterns will be provided for charity projects. You may also bring your own supplies to work on a project of your own. Free and open to all. No registration necessary. Location: Grady Room

       Join Lisa, Acton Library's Head of Circulation, to discuss Book Lovers by Emily Henry. This group will meet at Myrcene Ale Co. Free and open to all ages 21+.   Registration is suggested as seating is limited and is available one month prior to the event. Location: Myrcene Ale

    Need assistance using your laptop, iPad, Kindle or other device? Take advantage of Tech Time! Meet with a tech savvy librarian for a 20-minute one-on-one session to discuss your technology needs. Appointments are available on Thursdays betweent 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM.     Dungeons and Dragons - While our weekly campaign is on hold, Our regular adventurers took some side quests... Come join us for all things D&D. Want to make a new character? Discuss Best Tips for DMing? Run a One Shot? Learn about running your own homebrew campaign? Access our growing reference Library of texts and tomes?     Stop by the library each week to pick up one of Miss Rebecca's Grab & Go craft kits. Free and open to all. Available while supplies last. No registration required.  Location: Children's Room

  • Mon, May 13, 2024 -- Learn & Play Playgroup - April to May at 10:30 AM

    This session will run from April 15 - May 20. This child-focused playgroup is for young children and their caregivers. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with others, make new friends, and learn by playing in a literacy-enriched environment. Each session will include activities, sensory materials, and toys. Registration is suggested. (NO CLASS ON DAYS THAT OLD SAYBROOK PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED) Location: Grady Thomas Room
